Saudi National Address: How to Register, Find, and Update Your Address

Saudi National Address

The Saudi National Address is the Kingdom’s standard address format, run by Saudi Post (SPL). It describes a building with six parts: building number, street name, secondary number, district, postal code and city. It also gives the building a Short Address, a code of four letters and four numbers. You can register, find, update and print proof of your address through the SPL website or app, signing in with your SPL account or Nafath. SPL lists the service as free of charge.

Since 1 January 2026, parcel delivery companies in Saudi Arabia must not accept shipments that lack a National Address, so an accurate address matters for online shopping. This guide explains each task step by step. So every action below happens on official channels. For postal codes on their own, read our Saudi postal code.

What Is the Saudi National Address?

The National Address is a unified addressing system for all regions, cities and villages in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Post developed it, and the Council of Ministers approved it in Resolution No. 252, dated 3 June 2013, as the unified address format, according to SPL. In August 2025, SPL welcomed a further Council of Ministers decision to adopt the National Address as the sole source for addressing in the Kingdom and to standardize property numbering on digital maps.

The system replaces vague descriptions such as “near the big mall” with a precise, searchable address. SPL says it covers every area of the country with an accuracy of one square meter. Banks, government services and delivery companies use it to locate you, which is why SPL calls registration a responsibility for every individual and entity.

What Are the Six Components of a Saudi National Address?

SPL describes six parts:

  • Building number: four digits that identify the building.
  • Street name: the street where the building’s main entrance is located.
  • Secondary number: four digits that give the exact location. It is useful where there is no street or district name.
  • District: the district where the building sits.
  • Postal code: five digits. SPL says its postal code network covers all of Saudi Arabia.
  • City: the city where the address is located.

Here is a sample address for illustration only, adapted from the example on SPL’s Door Step. It is not a real reader’s address.

What Is the Difference Between National Address, Short Address, and Postal Code?

SPL explains that the Short Address uses four letters assigned based on the postal code and four digits that match the building number. It is easy to remember, but it is a separate code, not the same as the five-digit postal code. A postal code alone does not identify your building.

How to Register for a National Address in Saudi Arabia?

Registration is done by the account holder on SPL’s official channels. SPL’s National Address lists the service as free of charge for individuals. Optional extras, such as a physical address plate, are separate paid services.

Register Through the SPL Website

  1. Open the SPL Online website.
  2. Sign in with your username or personal ID and password, or through Nafath. If you do not have an account, use the Sign Up option first.
  3. Open the National Address section and select Add Address.
  4. Choose the location of your building.
  5. Fill in the building details.
  6. Review the details and confirm.

Register Through the SPL App

  1. Open the SPL app.
  2. Sign in with your username or personal ID and password, or through Nafath.
  3. In My National Addresses, select View more.
  4. Select Add Address (+).
  5. Choose the location, fill in the building details, then review and confirm.

SPL’s FAQ says the new address then appears on your National Address page. Check each detail before you confirm, because errors will affect deliveries and official records.

Limits: According to the same FAQ, a citizen can hold up to four National Addresses and a resident up to two. If a user at the limit deletes an address, they can add a new one after six months.

How to Find Your National Address Online?

SPL’s FAQ lists five ways to find your address:

  1. SPL’s virtual assistant, Maha, on the website, in the app or through WhatsApp
  2. Your SPL account on the website or app, where you can view your addresses
  3. The Tawakkalna app
  4. The Absher website
  5. The Noor platform

SPL’s National Address page also lists Sehhaty as a place to find your Short Address. The Transport General Authority says individuals can verify their address through the official National Address platform, Absher, Tawakkalna, Sehhaty and SPL, as reported by Saudi Gazette.

Menus change, so open the relevant section of each service to see your addresses. Use official sites only. SPL publishes a fraud awareness for readers who receive suspicious messages about their address.

How to Update or Change Your National Address?

Use the SPL website or app. SPL’s FAQ describes these tasks.

Edit an address

  1. Sign in to SPL Online or the SPL app, with your ID and password or through Nafath.
  2. Open the National Address section and choose the address you want to change.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Update the location and building details, then review and confirm.

Change your main address

  1. Sign in and open the National Address section.
  2. Select the address you want as your main one.
  3. Choose the option to set it as the main address, then confirm.

If you move

Add the new address, set it as your main address, and delete the old one if you no longer need it. You must keep at least one address, so the last one cannot be deleted.

Other changes

  • Dependents: you can add or delete dependents on an address. A citizen can add up to 11 and a resident up to 4.
  • Mobile number: sign in through Nafath and use Edit Personal Information, then Edit Mobile Number.

After any change, print your proof of address and check that the new details appear correctly on Absher and Tawakkalna.

How to Download or Print National Address Proof?

SPL lists several official routes:

  • SPL website: sign in, open National Address and select the proof option next to the address.
  • SPL app: sign in, open the menu, choose National Address, then select the proof option next to the address.
  • Maha, the virtual assistant: choose Request Proof of Address, enter your national ID or Iqama number, enter the one-time code sent to your registered mobile number, and select the address if you have more than one.
  • Tawakkalna: SPL’s FAQ lists it as a supported channel.

If someone gives you a proof of address and you need to check it, SPL provides a proof verification tool.

How can a business register its official address?

SPL’s Official Business Address service covers a business’s registration, renewal, update and proof printing. SPL describes the address as the official address for each legal entity, used for official communications and regulatory matters such as legal transactions, contracts, licenses, and judicial and security summonses. It is based on Council of Ministers Resolution 252.

There are two ways to register, according to the SPL FAQ:

  1. Through the Saudi Business Center: register the National Address when you issue the commercial registration, or update it when you update the registration. The Business Platform provides this route.
  2. Through SPL Online or the SPL app: sign in with your commercial registration number or license and password, then select Add Address and complete the location and building details.

A business address cannot be deleted, but it can be modified. Business subscriptions can expire and need renewal, and fees apply. Check SPL for current fees before you pay, because this guide does not quote business prices. If you move premises, update the address straight away so that licenses, contracts and notices reach the right place. Why Is the National Address Important for Deliveries in Saudi Arabia?

The Transport General Authority (TGA) decided that parcel delivery companies must not accept or transport postal shipments that lack a National Address. Enforcement started on 1 January 2026, according to Saudi Gazette and Okaz. Saudi Gazette reports that fines of SAR 5,000 to SAR 50,000 apply to parcel delivery companies that do not comply.

This is a requirement for delivery companies. It does not mean a resident automatically faces a fine for not registering. In practice, though, a missing or wrong address can mean a shipment is refused or delayed.

To avoid problems when you shop online:

  • Register your address before you order.
  • Enter every component, or your Short Address, exactly as it appears in your SPL account.
  • Keep your mobile number current.
  • Check your address again after a move.

SPL says using the National Address speeds up delivery and removes the need for follow-up calls. It also offers a service called Alami, which gives you addresses in other countries for shopping at international stores, with parcels sent on to your National Address.
